Year 5 Football Friendly

Another sporting event on Thrusday 24th March and this time it was the turn of some of our Year 5 footballers.
For a lot of these players, it was a first time in the kit, and it was fantastic to see them getting stuck in against a good team from Triangle!
The scoreline is irrelevant as it certainly does not reflect their effort, and they certainly worked up a sweat!
It's great seeing so many of our pupils getting back into sports and enjoying what they do!
Well done guys!

Year 5&6 Pennine Schools Cross-Country

Wet, muddy and cold conditions for the Pennine Schools Y5/6 Cross-Country Comp on Thursday 3rd March. We had a couple of lost shoes, muddy legs, very cold children but lots of smiles and laughter too!
Well done to the runners in both year groups! All completed the course and got extremely muddy in the process!
A big thank you goes to our Y6 volunteers who set up the event, marshalled around the course, encouraged all our runners and tidied up too. Job well done!

Pennine Schools Lacrosse

On Wednesday 1st December, Holy Trinity hosted Wardle St James in their first lacrosse match of the season. We started the session with a bit of a warm-up game and some training before mixing the squad and playing a few matches.

The teams got stuck in and walked away with valuable playing experience reading for the prelims in February.

GM Lacrosse Finals

On Thursday 24th March after a great morning of lacrosse, playing our 4 group games, this was enough to see us qualify for the Championship Knockout competition.

HT 5 v 6 Mellor
HT 6 v 3 Gorse Hill
HT 7 v 1 Brooklands
HT 1 v 7 Withington Girls

The afternoon session, saw us face Mellor again in which we suffered a defeat of 7-1.

For a first competition out, the team absolutely played their little (neon) socks off and we are incredibly proud of them all!

Well done Team HT!

Lacrosse Team Finals

On Wednesday 9th Feb, our lacrosse team competed in the Rochdale Schools Finals and had to dig deep. They narrowly lost to St Gabriel's in extra time (it ended 11-11 after full time and we lost by 2 goals in the end) and we beat Smithybridge 14-1. Some fantastic play from our team but it does give us something to work on now.
Overall, we came second place but the hard work these kids have put in has not gone unnoticed! They worked their bright orangey/pink socks off - full kit to follow!!
We now progress on to the Greater Manchester Winter Games in March (Date TBC) representing Rochdale, along with St Gab's. Well done #TeamHT
Year 5 & 6 Cross-Country
An excellent afternoon on Thursday 4th November at Year 5 and 6 Cross Country, yet again all our runners gave their all and upheld the Holy Trinity ethos the entire afternoon. All of our runners can be proud of their achievements.
It was a tougher course than the Y3/4 race but they never gave up! Superb guys! And for some, a first outing representing school! Amazing behaviour and team spirit from all!
The Year 5 team will now go on to represent Rochdale in the GM Games at Heaton Park on Saturday 5th February.

Year 3&4 Pennine Schools Football Tournament

Snow, hail, wind, rain and sunshine. Our Y3/4 footballers saw it all on Thursday 31st March in the first Pennine Schools Sports Association Y3/4 tournament!
Some cracking football from each of these players including a magnificent goal from Louie and some excellent shot stopping saves from Henry.
Cannot fault the attitude of this team tonight, even when they were shivering in the blizzard they still gave it their all!!
Well done guys!!!
Hopefully it will be a little warmer next time!

Year 3&4 Pennine Schools Cross-Country

On Monday 14th March it was the turn of Y3 and 4 in the Pennine Schools Cross-Country.
Well done to the runners in both year groups, for some it was their first time representing school. All completed the course and we walked away with a few medals too!
1st place - Jemma (Y3 girls), Ruby (Y4 girls)
3rd place - Luke (Y3 boys) , Martha (Y4 girls)
Thank you to our Y6 volunteers who set up the event, ran the event, marshalled around the course, encouraged all our runners and tidied up too. Job well done!
Finally, thank you to ex-pupil Ben Green who paced every race for us! Thank you!

Year 5 GM Cross-Country

A huge well done to our Year 5 runners who braved, not only the brutal Heaton Park course but this horrific weather too on Saturday 5th February! We are so incredibly proud of you all for taking part, you should be proud of yourselves too! Great job guys!

Year 3 & 4 Cross-Country
On Thursday 14th October, 12 children from year 3 and 4 took part in the RBSGP Cross-Country event at Falinge Park High School.
All 12 children were amazing and did HT proud! They tried their absolute best and as sports coordinator, I am so proud of every one of them! For all these children, it was the first time representing school in any event and all said they would love to do it again! We had 4 medals winners in their respective races (Jemma - 1st, Luke - 2nd, Martha - 2nd & Ruby 3rd). Both teams also came first overall in the competition! Great job guys!
